Glow Wire Test Apparatus IEC60695
(Model#BND-ZRS)
Introduction:
What is glow wire testing?
Glow wire testing is an electrical safety test designed to evaluate the flame resistant properties of plastic materials used in electrical devices. Its purpose is to protect against the risk of fire from overheated or electrically energized parts which may cause the plastic material to ignite.
Glow Wire Test Procedures
Heating up the glow wire loop by large current to the testing temperature 550C ~ 960C for 1min, then to heat the sample with 1N force for 30sec. To evaluate the flame resistant properties of plastic materials used in electrical devices by observing whether the sample is ignited and how long the burning lasts. If burst off happens, recordings are made to know the time, fire height, and if saturation of the material sparks off the tissue paper.
Glow wire testing can be carried out on both finished products and crude material test plates. GWT stands for Glow-Wire Test (IEC 60695-2-11). GWT is used when glow wire testing is carried on a finished item. The results of this test will be either PASS or FAIL at a certain temperature. Succeeding the test needs that the sample does not burn or switch off itself within 30 seconds after removal of the hot element. Likewise, if saturation occurs, the sample may not kindle the tissue paper.
GWFI stands for Glow Wire Flammability Index (IEC 60695-2-12). GWFI is a property related to the raw material used in the final product. This property is resolved by controlling the glow wire test on a test plate of an unprocessed material of a certain thickness. GWFI stands for The Glow Wire Flammability Index (GWFI) explain the maximum temperature at which the substance does not quench or turn off within 30 seconds after withdrawal of the heated material.
Plastics Glow Wire Flammability Tester BND-ZRS simulates a thermal stress situation to assess the safety of plastic materials in electrical products.
